How Is Having A Credit Card Going To Help Me?

People can't go shopping without their cards. I am talking of course about credit cards. Everywhere you go you will find that almost everyone uses some type of card, be it debit or credit to complete financial transactions. Almost any business accepts them and you don't need to carry any change. If you are on the go and don't have cash, having a credit card makes life so much more convenient. Keep in mind that there are positive and damaging aspects of owning a credit card and how you use it.

With each charge to the credit card the funds are coming from the credit card company which keeps a record of how much you spend on that card. For your credit card you are allotted a total amount to spend. Depending on your credit history, income and ability to pay it can range from $100 and over $100,000. At the end of 30 days the credit card company will total your balance and you will be required to pay a percentage of that amount with interest. If you are able to pay the amount in full you may do so but they will set a minimum amount for you to pay. If you choose to make a partial payment the next month's interest will be added onto the total amount of the credit company’s money that you have spent. Credit Card companies offer different rates of interest depending on the type of card you want and your current credit score. Every now and then credit card issuers will come out with new cards that have very low introductory rates and terms enticing customers to sign up.

Now that you know what a credit card is and how they work you should know some of the benefits of having a credit card. When you need a small financial cushion credit cards can really help. There are times when you have run out of money. Carrying credit cards takes the worry off of not having cash at that minute. If it is an emergency and you really need to withdraw cash you can use credit cards to do so (although we do not recommend it unless you really need the cash).

With the almost necessity and usefulness of credit cards there are still precautions that one must take when using them. It may not seem like it but there are negative aspects to owning a credit card. Some people, with the convenience of having a credit card, will continue to swipe again and again. Not realizing how quickly those purchase amounts add up. Before the know it they have already maxed out their credit line on the card. Interest amounts on top of the required payment can really add up over a short amount of time. The payments on your card could add up from all the impulse purchases and if one isn't careful payments could get out of control.

Depending on your financial details credit card companies will approve you for specific annual interest rates (APR). Credit card companies will take your credit history into account in determining if you even qualify to get a credit card and what APR you will receive on that card. Always, always, always keep your credit history good and clean (no late payments). On the other hand if you have always paid on time and never missed a payment your credit history is blemish free and you will be rewarded with not only an approval for a credit card but the lowest annual percentage rate that they allow.
